About the show
Los Angeles Theatre Initiative presents a series of vignettes exploring American school society and its shocking overlap with gun culture. Created and presented by students, the show follows children and their dragon guardians as they grapple with the dangers of gun violence with humour, bravery and compassion. Set against the reality that American students face the constant threat of firearms — confronting their own mortality before they stop wearing tutus to school — the piece runs for 55 minutes at Upper Theatre (Thrust). Suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
A student-created piece that tackles a genuinely difficult subject through the unexpected lens of fantasy. Dragons and gun violence make for a striking combination, and the humour and compassion in the writing give it real resonance.
