About Gilded Balloon and Darby James
Little Squirt is a one-man musical comedy about sperm donation, returning to Edinburgh from Gilded Balloon and performer Darby James. Darby clicks on an IVF Clinic Facebook advert and must navigate a sea of existential mayhem — considering the absurdities of procreation and pondering pathways to queer parenthood. Through genetic questionnaires, medical screening and psychological evaluations, he finds himself as a seaman stranded in moral purgatory, faced with the unanswerable question: should we be having children? Running 60 minutes at Bramley, it is suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
Hilarious and heartfelt in equal measure, this solo musical comedy wrings genuine emotional depth from a brilliantly absurd premise. Darby James's journey through the bureaucracy of reproduction is one of the Fringe's more surprisingly moving hours.
