About John Anthony Gorman
Woodcutter is an autobiographical one-man show by John Anthony Gorman, a professional company, performed at the Studio during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Returning from the USA, only child John Anthony Gorman clears out his late parents' home in Glasgow. Armed with cardboard boxes, he tackles each room layered with traditions, celebrations and heartache. Every object sparks a story — from stealing his mum's diamond earrings to be like David Beckham to pouring his dad's last Guinness. As the house empties, the past grows louder. Blisteringly funny and brutally honest, the show runs 50 minutes and is for audiences aged 18 and over.
Why see this show?
A solo show grounded in the deeply specific — a Glasgow house, a diamond earring, a last Guinness. That specificity is what makes it universal. Funny and honest in equal measure.
