We Had Fun is a 65-minute dark comedy by Emmeline Hartley and Jack Mullings, performed at Old Lab as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The world premiere production follows close friends Oscar and Ela as they navigate the fallout of a drunken sexual encounter — their conflicting versions of events replayed, rewound and re-written against the sensory backdrop of a wild night out. Directed by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, the show is a new writing piece exploring the greyest areas of consent and sexual politics. It is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
A world premiere that takes on genuinely difficult territory — consent, memory and competing versions of the same event — without offering easy answers. The structural device of replaying and rewriting the night gives the story real dramatic tension.
