Google The ProvocateursAbout The Provocateurs
The Provocateurs at Stand 4 presents two talks in one 60-minute spoken word event. Dr Andrew Brown from the University of Edinburgh examines how his grandparents, along with 400 other Polish refugees, found shelter and an education in the Edinburgh Medical School during the Second World War — and asks whether history is repeating as he finds refuge there himself from present-day politics. Dr Karissa Patton then explores the history of women's health information, from tales of snake oils and clinical trials to local activism. Part of the Edinburgh Medical School's three-hundredth Anniversary programme. Suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
Two Edinburgh academics bring genuinely personal stories to the stage — one rooted in wartime refugee history, the other in women's struggle for reliable health information. Thoughtful, timely, and rooted in real experience.
