The Pitch is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud Belfast play produced by Moya Jane Productions, Lyric Belfast and Pleasance. It follows Robbie, a sports-mad Belfast boy who feels the refurbishment of his local pitch into a Gaelic football ground as an invasion of his culture. For GAA player Deren, the same ground is a long-overdue home. As Robbie's sister Melissa begins playing Gaelic football at school and a United Ireland referendum looms on the horizon, the three characters must find a way to coexist. The play is energetic and funny, but takes its questions about identity, sport and belonging seriously.
