Google Edinburgh Little TheatreAbout the show
The Burnings is a new writing play by Edinburgh Little Theatre, performed at the Studio at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show tells the true story of Agnes Sampson, the East Lothian 'witch' — an innocent and humble folk healer who was accused of causing storms and trying to murder the king. Armed only with her bravery and beliefs, she stands before the king before being tortured into a confession. The production draws on the wider Scottish witch trials, in which over 2,500 mainly women were executed. The show runs for 60 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
A gripping and sobering piece of theatre rooted in a true story — Edinburgh Little Theatre brings real weight to Agnes Sampson's ordeal, making the historical tragedy feel urgent and present.
