About Sofia May
The Buddha Wears Prada is a 60-minute dark stand-up comedy show by Sofia May, performed at the Other Room. The show draws on Sofia May's experience as a former member of a Buddhist cult's inner circle, working as the assistant to a chic, diabolical female cult leader. After living in a secluded community deep in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, she left and began speaking out through exposés, podcasts and what she describes as general trash-talking. Now a self-proclaimed 'Buddhaphobe', she uses the hour to share what she witnessed — and to take your relationship with Buddhism down with her. Strictly 18 and over.
Why see this show?
A comedian taking the stage to dismantle a cult from the inside out — and to take the audience's assumptions about Buddhism along for the ride. Dark, specific, and drawn entirely from lived experience in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
