Teen Spirit
Blackstar Productions • Student/Youth company
About the show
Teen Spirit is a new theatre piece from Blackstar Productions, a student and youth company, performed at Stephenson Theatre. Noah is dead, spending his afterlife in limbo alongside failed nineties grunge rocker Elijah. When Noah starts seeing his living brother Alex, he must choose between worlds of the living and the dead before his time in limbo runs out, tying up the loose ends of both his life and after-life. Part coming-of-age comedy and part ghost story, the show is a bittersweet comedy about grief, ghosts and grunge rock, complete with alternative fashion and a concert atmosphere. It runs 45 minutes and is suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
Ghosts, grunge and grief might sound heavy, but this bittersweet comedy wears it all lightly. The concert atmosphere and alternative aesthetic give it an energy that feels genuinely fresh — sweet, funny and unexpectedly moving.
