Performed by Jenna Baer as part of PBH's Free Fringe, Spider Witches of Appalachia blends oral storytelling traditions with theatre. As the last Spider Witch, Baer weaves stories of five generations of her family — Appalachian healers, midwives, ordinary women and rebels who passed on their survival and power through folklore and folk medicine. Like a spider's web, inheritance does not move in straight lines: knowledge skips generations, spirals back, tangles and repairs itself. The show runs for 50 minutes at The Loft, is free to attend, and is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
