Book NowAbout the show
Sodom, The Quintessence of Debauchery is a restoration farce produced by Nikita Matthews Production. Written in 1673 and banned for three hundred and fifty years for its explicit nature, the play follows King Bolloxinion, who authorises buggery across the realm. His Queen, his loyal subjects, and his court must survive the ensuing chaos. Prince Pricket and Princess Swivia commit incest. The court descends into erotic madness, culminating in the appearance of demons, fire and brimstone. A roaring and salacious piece of theatre history, performed in 50 minutes at the Grand Theatre.
Why see this show?
One of the most notorious texts in theatre history finally on stage — a gleefully transgressive restoration farce that has been banned for centuries. If you have a taste for the outrageously bawdy and a curiosity about what scandalised audiences for so long, this is unmissable.
