ROLEPLAY is a one-woman show written and performed by Hannah Reilly, in which a broke feminist podcaster reinvents herself as a provocative social media personality in pursuit of fame, only to lose herself in the performance. Described as darkly hilarious, gripping and surreal, the show interrogates modern sex, the commodification of feminism, and the era of the personal brand. Directed by Paige Rattray, it runs for 70 minutes at TechCube 0 during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Age guidance is 18 and over, with warnings for nudity, scenes of a sexual nature, sexual violence, strong language, and haze and smoke effects.
Why see this show?
A ferocious, funny solo show that takes an unflinching look at how performance and identity collapse into each other online and on stage. Hannah Reilly's writing is sharp and her subject — the commodified self — feels urgent.
