What happens when a psychologist is confronted by a wildly challenging creature – a force of nature with an extraordinary hidden talent. For lovers of drama, involving Neil Roberts, one of Britain's leading actors, and operatic magic sung by Carly Paoli, one of the world's leading sopranos.

About the show

Primal Scream follows a young, feisty and rebellious girl from a difficult background who is released from prison into the care of a psychologist after attempting to kill her abusive stepfather. Highly intelligent, challenging, sexually provocative and funny, she proves a serious challenge for the shrink. She has vibrant views on life, politics, sex and much else. After much verbal confrontation, she reveals her secret ambition to train as an opera singer — and when the shrink at the piano persuades her to sing an aria, she proves she has a great voice.

Why see this show?

A tightly wound two-hander built on confrontation, intelligence and surprise. The reveal of an operatic voice hidden within such a fierce character gives the play a genuine emotional punch.
