About tarinainanika (Japan)
PeoplePeople is a wildly quirky piece of physical theatre from Japan by the company tarinainanika. The forty-five-minute show at portal presents five characters — a professor, a punk, a pierrot, a patient and a pupil — each portrayed through the unique theatrical language of Corporeal Mime. The characters speak in their native tongues: Japanese, Chinese and English. There is no story and no set, just five people being people in their own surreal, strangely humanising and somewhat mad way.
Why see this show?
A rare chance to encounter Corporeal Mime from Japan, performed with three languages and no set whatsoever. Strangely humanising and somewhat mad — this short, affordable show offers something genuinely unlike anything else at the Fringe.
