About Edinburgh Rep
[Parent]ified is a new writing play from Edinburgh Rep, a semi-professional company, performed at The Speakeasy. Sissy is 25 but has in a way always been an adult. When a call from her sister Bug arrives in the night, Sissy must come to terms with all the years that came before. As the lines between childhood and parenthood blur, the messy threads of a childhood cut short begin to unravel, and hopes for a better future may be rooted in the past. The show runs 60 minutes, is suitable for ages 16 and over, and contains distressing or potentially triggering themes.
Why see this show?
Deeply vulnerable and beautifully performed, this is new writing that handles a rarely explored subject — the burden placed on children who become carers — with honesty and care. It lingers well beyond the final scene.
