Operation Market Garden
Inspired Theatre • Semi-professional company
About the show
Inspired Theatre presents this verbatim theatre piece at Theatre 1, drawn directly from the wartime diary and letters of Welsh paratrooper Neville Neads, who was captured during the 1944 operation of the same name. Offering a raw, personal perspective on war, identity and survival as a prisoner of war, the show centres the real testimony of the often-overlooked foot soldier. Neads's diary and letters to his fiancée trace his experience and that of his comrades during almost a year in captivity. The show runs for 60 minutes, is suitable for ages 12 and over, and contains distressing themes and scenes of violence.
Why see this show?
Verbatim theatre at its most purposeful — a true story told in a real soldier's own words, centring the experience of an ordinary man rather than grand strategy. Thoughtful, grounded and genuinely moving.
