About the show
Mysteries of the Picts is an immersive theatre experience by Sauna Sessions Arts Club, performed at Sauna Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Smoke, scent and steam conjure the sweathouses of ancient Scotland, where traditional sauna rituals invoke the mysterious painted Picts who gathered in underground shelters to summon spirits and tattoo each other with magical symbols. In the warmth of a modern-day sauna theatre, stories emerge like hazy memories in Highland mist as the symbols and vanished kingdoms of the Pictish slowly reveal themselves. The show takes place in a sauna; all audience members must wear swimwear. Running 90 minutes, age guidance is 14+.
