The village of Acklesford is holding their annual charity beauty pageant – and you’re invited! While all eyes are on the stage, the real drama is happening behind the scenes in the storage-cupboard-turned-dressing-room. Will reigning champion Carmen hold on to her crown after the death of her mother? Or will newcomer Felicity finally shake things up? And does anybody know when they’re going to fix the village hall roof?

About the show

Miss Thing is a new play by Nottingham New Theatre set behind the scenes of a village charity beauty pageant. While the contest plays out on stage, the real drama unfolds in a storage-cupboard-turned-dressing-room. Reigning champion Carmen faces the pageant for the first time since the death of her mother, while newcomer Felicity threatens to shake things up. The show runs for 50 minutes at the Stephenson Theatre, is suitable for ages 16 and over, and carries warnings for distressing themes and strong language. Tickets are £11.

Why see this show?

A compact, character-driven comedy-drama that uses the beauty pageant format as a lens for something more personal. The backstage setting keeps the action intimate — you are in the dressing room with these characters, not watching from a distance.
