A free, hands-on exhibition featuring a collection of wooden machines which demonstrate the fascinating and often bewildering motion of mechanisms. Old-school, hand-driven mechanics: gears, cams, levers... those twisty bits... All working together to produce interesting and often amusing effects. You’ll see Drawing Machines, which produce elaborate patterns. Just turn the handle to make your own unique artwork to take away and impress your friends. There are Ball Runner Machines, which propel a set of balls around in complicated circuits. This year, the Hedgehog Automata are helping out with the other machines. The results will be... interesting...

Mesmerising Mechanisms is a free, hands-on exhibition by Ian Graham, an amateur company, hosted at Cafe Annex at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It features a collection of wooden machines demonstrating the fascinating motion of old-school mechanics: gears, cams, levers and more, all working together to produce interesting and often amusing effects. Visitors can turn the handle on Drawing Machines to make their own unique artwork to take away, and watch Ball Runner Machines send balls through complicated circuits. This year the Hedgehog Automata are also on hand. The exhibition runs for 360 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 8 and over. Visitors will be on their feet and moving around throughout.
