Man or Bear is a fast-moving, darkly comic new play by Katie Hurley and Sarah Hehir, created in association with Croydonites, inspired by the viral question: would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear? The play follows three generations of women in the lead-up to an act of violence, blending kitchen sink realism, music and bold physical sequences. Rather than centring the perpetrator, the work turns its focus to women's resilience, humour and solidarity. A poetic and unsettling reflection on modern-day misogyny, running for 60 minutes at the Red Lecture Theatre. Suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
A dark comedy that puts women's experience front and centre — unsettling, funny and physically inventive. Man or Bear tackles misogyny with intelligence and solidarity rather than despair, making it one of the more compelling new plays at this year's Fringe.
