About the show
JOSIAH is a play by Thousand Miles of Bricks Productions based on the autobiography of Josiah Henson. Born into slavery in Maryland, Henson endured 41 years of unimaginable brutality and persecution before escaping to Canada. The play dramatises his resilience, determination and faith, and the spirit that led him to become a respected leader, minister and teacher. His story is said to have inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe to create Uncle Tom in Uncle Tom's Cabin. The play runs for 80 minutes at the Studio venue. It contains scenes of violence, strong language, and distressing themes. Suitable for ages 12 and above.
