BAFTA winner and recovering spoken-word artist Jack Rooke (Creator of Hulu/Channel 4's Big Boys), revives his debut comedy-theatre hour, a decade after its first Fringe run. Featuring the original show (co-written with his nan) and new content, this retrospective explores grief, milking having a dead dad for personal/professional gain, the innocence of writing just for oneself before the interference of "telly wankers", and the palpable regret of his own decline into becoming said "telly wanker". Directed by Gabriel Bisset-Smith. 'Good Grief 2.0 [is] a delightful and still affecting watch' (Guardian). 'Engaging, frank, humorous' (New York Times).

About the show

Jack Rooke, creator of Big Boys for Hulu and Channel Four, revives his debut comedy-theatre hour a decade after its first Fringe run. The show was co-written with his nan and explores grief, the temptation to milk having a dead dad for personal and professional gain, and the regret of his own descent into becoming a so-called telly wanker. Featuring the original show alongside new content, and directed by Gabriel Bisset-Smith, this retrospective is presented by Berk's Nest in association with Soho Theatre and Curtis Brown.

Why see this show?

A rare comedy that earns its emotional moments without leaning on them. Jack Rooke revisits his debut — co-written with his nan — with fresh perspective, dark wit and the kind of honesty that makes grief both bearable and funny.
