About Nate Wise
I'm Mom is a solo theatre show from Studio Nately, performed at the Subway venue. The piece draws on a true story: the performer's mother, a Chicago therapist described as brilliant, generous, artistic and a magic wizard lady, died of breast cancer without ever telling anyone she was dying. Years later, using the Gestalt Therapy technique of speaking to an empty chair and responding as the absent person, the performer steps into his mother's voice to explore her unspoken wounds. The show runs for 60 minutes and is recommended for audiences aged 18 and over.
Why see this show?
A tender, courageous solo show that turns grief into connection. The empty-chair device is used with real theatrical courage, letting a mother's unspoken story finally be heard. Unexpectedly funny, deeply humane.
