Strawmoddie Theatre Company • Amateur Company
About the show
Strawmoddie Theatre Company brings the epic drama of madness, murder and debauchery to the stage in Part 1 of I, Claudius. Following Claudius as the appalled chronicler of his family's decadence, corruption, intrigue and carnage, this intense and riveting character drama brings Augustus Caesar and Livia vividly to life. The piece is adapted from Jack Pulman's 1976 adaptation of the original novel, originally broadcast on the BBC, and forms the first part of the thrilling dynastic conflict at the heart of Imperial Rome.
Why see this show?
A rare opportunity to see the political savagery of Imperial Rome played out on stage — with all the intrigue, carnage and moral compromise the story demands. Part 1 of a larger arc: a good point to join the dynasty.
