Google The Hidden Room TheatreAbout the show
The Hidden Room Theatre presents a historically based, largely verbatim play in which Harry Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle — friends turned adversaries — argue out their opposing views on magic, science and faith. Set in 1924, the show draws directly from the real tensions between Houdini's crusade to expose fraudulent mediums and Conan Doyle's passionate belief in Spiritualism. Written by Beth Burns and Patrick Terry, who also performs as a writer-magician, the piece reconstructs a genuine intellectual and philosophical clash.
Why see this show?
A play grounded in real words and real arguments between two of history's most fascinating figures. The clash of Houdini's scepticism and Conan Doyle's faith feels remarkably alive, and the writer-magician in the cast adds an extra layer of authenticity.
