About the show
Herstory in History, by Fu Studio, is a musical theatre drama based on the real life of a Chinese musical theatre actress. The show explores the awakening of a woman's agency as an actress realises that the legendary princess she portrays on stage and her own modern self are confined by the same invisible walls — defined as daughters, wives or martyrs, never themselves. In a powerful act of reclamation, she seizes the pen to rewrite her own story. The show runs 50 minutes at the Upper Theatre (Thrust) and is suitable for ages 8 and over.
Why see this show?
A musical theatre piece with genuine emotional stakes, drawing a thoughtful line between an ancient dramatic role and its performer's own life. Accessible to families yet with ideas that will stay with adult audiences too.
