Set against the backdrop of an all-night chippy and town-centre tower blocks, it follows a prudish schoolgirl's journey from the Scottish underclass to a teenage Westminster career. She's seduced from her studies to the streets — plunking it, partying, then U-turning. Paved with pink shell suits, Playboy garms and Britpop's parting cries, the show explores ambition, social mobility and culture shock within one's own country when you're coming from benefits class Britain.
