EIGHT: The One (Wo)Man Drag King Musical Parody is written and performed by Hannah Clift, playing at Blether during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show imagines Henry VIII returning from the dead to discover he is remembered only as that bloke with six wives — so he sets out to clear his name in a musical drag extravaganza. Featuring parodies of songs by Meatloaf, Celine Dion, Ed Sheeran and more, the show is inspired by the drag performers of the Victorian Music Hall, melodramatic rock music and musical theatre. Suitable for ages eighteen and over, with audience participation and strong language throughout.
Why see this show?
A wildly inventive concept that uses Tudor history as the springboard for a full-throttle drag extravaganza. Hannah Clift performing the whole thing solo makes it all the more impressive — part history lesson, part party.
