About Fake Escape
Don't You Forget About Me is a new writing solo show by Fake Escape, performed at Downstairs. The piece takes John Hughes' iconic film set on a 1985 Saturday morning detention as its starting point — a Brain, an Athlete, a Basket Case, a Princess and a Criminal — then introduces the forgotten sixth student who hosts a reunion forty years later. Part homage, part identity crisis, it is a sharp, witty and nostalgic love letter dedicated to anyone who ever wished life felt more like the movies. Suitable for ages 12 and over, the show runs for 60 minutes.
Why see this show?
A clever spin on a well-loved film that earns its nostalgia rather than simply leaning on it. Fake Escape turn the premise into something genuinely personal — a solo show that works as a tribute and as its own thing.
