About Jane Westhead
Darwin in Edinburgh is a walking tour combined with immersive theatre, written by theatre maker Jane Westhead and led by geologist and walk leader Angus Miller. In 1825, Darwin arrived in Edinburgh to study medicine; in 1831 he set sail on HMS Beagle on a journey that changed history. A team of actors recreate the characters who shaped Darwin's thinking during his time in the city. The show runs for 90 minutes, begins at Meeting Point at Potterrow Underpass, and is suitable for audiences aged 8 and over. Audiences must be prepared to walk.
Why see this show?
A rare Fringe experience that takes you out of the theatre and into the city itself. Following in Darwin's actual Edinburgh footsteps while actors bring his formative influences to life makes for something memorable and genuinely educational.
