About the show
Traverse Theatre Company presents Cathy, a new comedy written by young Scottish writer Eilidh Loan and performed at Traverse 1 during Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026. Inspired by Eilidh's grandmother and how she dealt with grief in her unique way after losing her husband, the play stars Elaine C Smith in the title role — a casting the real Cathy insisted upon. Eilidh Loan previously wrote Moorcroft, a true story based on her dad's amateur football team, which she directed at the Tron in Glasgow. Cathy runs for 80 minutes and is suitable for ages 12 and over.
