About Edinburgh University Footlights
Carrie: The Musical is an amateur production by Edinburgh University Footlights, staged at The Sanctuary. Set in 1974, the story follows Carrie — a social outcast living under the strain of her mother's religiosity — who discovers the power of telekinesis. When pushed too far by her high-school bullies on prom night, the consequences are devastating. Music is by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, book by Lawrence D Cohen, and the production is based on the novel by Stephen King. Running for 150 minutes, the show features haze, fake blood and loud noises throughout.
