About Ben Loftus, Cam Pileggi
Bumpo is a dark comedy theatre piece by Ben Loftus and Cam Pileggi, a semi-professional company, performed at Jade Studio. The show follows Sam, an underachieving writer, and Eileen, an emotionally reserved scientist with a secretive government job, as they meet to finalise their divorce and arrange custody of Bumpo — a genetically spliced human/dog hybrid Eileen created when the couple could not agree on whether to get a dog or have a baby. Sam wants Eileen back but cannot separate herself from her resentment of Bumpo. A bizarre, heartfelt exploration of heartbreak and identity, the show runs 60 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
Dark comedy and puppetry in a show that uses an absurd premise — a human/dog custody dispute — to say something genuine about heartbreak and identity. A strange, funny 60 minutes.
