Buggers is a new play by Alistair Hall, directed by Alice Wordsworth, produced by Patrick Bone Productions in association with Pleasance. Set in London in 1963, it imagines the turbulent relationship between painter Francis Bacon and petty criminal George Dyer. Their hedonistic, sexually charged union takes hold — but as cracks appear in George's mental health and Francis's ego becomes impossible, their passionate and sadomasochistic relationship descends into darkness. This haunting psychodrama runs for 60 minutes at Upstairs as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and is suitable for ages 18 and over.
