About Bruntsfield Baroque
Bruntsfield Baroque is an Edinburgh-based ensemble of accomplished musicians performing classical music from the Athens of the North. With John Sampson on recorders, Sheena Jardine on violin, Malcolm Garden on cello and Frances Scott providing continuo, the group specialises in music that would have been heard in drawing rooms throughout the New Town in the seventeen-hundreds. The programme includes an Air on a Scotch Ground by Nicola Matteis, sonatas by Telemann and Handel, and a wonderful variety of solos, duets and trio sonatas from across Europe, accompanied by intriguing stories.
