About the show
Broadside is an immersive musical theatre piece by April Alsup Productions set in pre-Revolutionary Boston, where Britain and America fall out of sync in a war of words before the first musket is fired. At the centre is Paul Revere, an artisan whose etchings become weapons in a growing information war, and Margaret Gage, navigating loyalty as tensions rise. The show explores how broadsides — working like the first social memes — could shape public opinion overnight, and reveals how songs, satire and rumour did not just reflect the conflict but fuelled it. Running 60 minutes at the Willow Studio, age guidance 12+.
Why see this show?
A sharp, tuneful look at the information war that preceded the American Revolution — Broadside treats pre-Revolutionary Boston broadsides as the original viral content and puts Paul Revere and Margaret Gage at the heart of a story about loyalty, influence and the power of words.
