About Katy Lees
Breathe: Five Arias That Saved My Life is a one-woman show by soprano Katy Lees, a rare survivor of mesothelioma. When given months to live, her defiant response was to commit to having 600 of them — and then to decide whether she would ever sing again. Twenty years later, she tells her captivating story at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in her Fringe debut, featuring the music that rescued her. The show blends storytelling, opera, virtuoso singing, inspiration and audience collaboration, and runs for 60 minutes at St Vincent's.
Why see this show?
Katy Lees has an extraordinary story — and the vocal gifts to tell it through music. Breathe is honest, humorous and moving, and the arias she has chosen carry the emotional weight of everything she has been through. A rare kind of show.
