About Fortune Bistro | CCW China Season
Ass Ass In is an experimental theatre work by Fortune Bistro, part of the CCW China Season, adapted from the story of Yu Rang found in Records of the Grand Historian by Sima Qian, the first major Chinese historian. Writing from prison, the narrator meets the loyal assassin who disfigured himself and muted his voice to avenge his lord. Through this encounter with a fellow soul in despair, the narrator forges a bond of loyalty and affirms his own life mission. Blending devised theatre and realism, the work is a raw, visceral reflection on faith, fate and legacy. It runs for 40 minutes.
Why see this show?
A raw, visceral piece drawn from one of Chinese history's most compelling sources, Ass Ass In brings devised theatre and realism together in a story of loyalty, self-sacrifice and legacy. An unusual and absorbing forty minutes of international theatre.
