About The Next Act
Alan Bennett's Talking Heads is performed by The Next Act, a multi-generational company of Edinburgh-based women. Four of Bennett's iconic monologues are presented: A Lady of Letters, A Bed Among the Lentils, Her Big Chance and Cream Cracker Under the Settee. With wit, poignancy and emotional precision, each actor brings a distinctive voice to Bennett's portraits of loneliness, quiet desperation and resilient humour. Though rooted in the seventies and eighties, these sharply observed character studies remain strikingly relevant, offered here through an intergenerational lens. The show runs 70 minutes and is suitable for ages 12 and above.
