ADEY is a heartfelt semi-autobiographical solo show by Bethlehem Wolday-Myers, combining spoken word, music and movement. It follows Bethlehem — a recent drama school graduate navigating a demanding industry — who lives at home with her traditional Eritrean mother Tsehaynesh, a stoic woman of culture who struggles to understand her daughter's career in the arts. When something drastic happens, Bethlehem must work harder than ever. The show moves between West Green Road in Tottenham and palm tree-covered Asmara in Eritrea, exploring identity, ambition and family.
Why see this show?
A vivid and personal show that travels between two very different worlds through spoken word, music and movement. The dynamic between mother and daughter gives it genuine emotional weight without ever becoming sentimental.
