About Rachel E Thorn
A Simply Beastly Murder is a new writing comedy-theatre piece by Rachel E Thorn, performed at Jack Dome at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Famous Five grew up and grew apart. Dick, now a hardened PI, gets in over his head and turns to his sister Anne for help. Set in the world of British film noir, the show is full of gangsters, intrigue and lashings of tinned pineapple. Additional voices are provided by Alistair McGowan. Thorn writes for BBC Radio programmes including Dead Ringers and The Now Show. Running 60 minutes, suitable for ages 12 and above.
Why see this show?
A brilliantly silly premise — the Famous Five as grown-up noir detectives — executed with proper craft. British film noir mixed with childhood nostalgia and tinned pineapple sounds like exactly the kind of Fringe show you'll be quoting for years.
