About the show

Grownup Playhouse is an Edinburgh-based original musical theatre company founded in 2023 by writer, composer, director, and performer Tom Rolph. The company has brought original productions to the Fringe since 2024, with The Detective's Demise first performed that year and now returning in 2026 with new songs, stronger characters, and revised plot twists. This 80-minute comedy musical follows trainee sleuth Penelope Puck as she investigates the birthday-party murder of Detective Ben Stone, unravelling increasingly ridiculous motives from five suspects until the killer is finally unmasked.
