A Costume Drama
Play the Field Productions • Semi-professional company
About the show
A Costume Drama is a solo comedy written and performed by Claudia Fielding, with direction and music by Anna Rastelli, at Playground 3. The show follows reluctant Ella who must step into the incredibly big boots of Eddie The Egg, her family's mascot, in a race at the Mascot Grand National. Her shell-suit-sporting dad is indisposed, leaving her to uphold the family tradition. This heartwarming 60-minute story — from Play the Field Productions — explores family legacy, tradition and the love of the game.
Why see this show?
Equal parts wacky and warm, A Costume Drama takes the unlikely premise of a mascot race and turns it into something genuinely touching. Fielding's off-kilter comic sensibility makes this a fresh and entertaining solo show.
