Weaving Me, Weaving Mum is a 40-minute dance theatre piece by The Great Her, a female-led UK/China professional company, performed at the theatre venue. Through movement, hand-knitted costume and visual metaphor, the show explores the invisible threads between mothers and daughters, drawing on the director Yuqiu's personal experience across generations. The production is created by a playwright, director and textile-based artist, and produced by a female-led collective founded by Jiayi Chen. The show features new handmade costumes and a cross-cultural female cast. Suitable for ages 12 and over, with content warnings for distressing themes, violent themes, distressing audio-visual content and prolonged blackout.
Why see this show?
An intimate, handmade production that uses textile, movement and memory to tell a deeply personal story about mothers, daughters and generational inheritance. The combination of dance, hand-knitted costume and poetry-like staging makes this a quietly distinctive piece of Fringe theatre.
