About Mon Espoir
Unravel is a dark comedic drama from Mon Espoir exploring the terror and uncertainty of new parenthood. Scatterbrained Arya and her baby find their flat invaded by a mysterious Voice that demands Arya make an unimaginable sacrifice. The play asks how any reasonable person could be persuaded to carry out an unspeakable task, and where this ancient-sounding, Backstreet Boys-aware Voice could possibly have come from. Weaving together postpartum psychosis, generational trauma and self-discovery with raw emotion and sharp humour, it runs 50 minutes and carries content warnings for strong language and distressing themes.
Why see this show?
A sharp, unexpected mix of dark comedy and genuine emotional weight, Unravel tackles postpartum psychosis and generational trauma without losing its wit. If you enjoy new writing that takes bold swings — gods, babies, and the Backstreet Boys in the same breath — this is worth your time.
