Lindsay Lucas-Bartlett grew up in Southend-on-Sea sharing a home with her abusive bipolar father and drug addict brother. Her escape plans were two-fold: marry Prince William, or run away to Los Angeles. Prince William started losing his hair, which narrowed the options considerably. Trust Me, I'm from Essex is a musical comedy and storytelling show that examines what it means to flee one dysfunctional family only to confront the next. The show discusses domestic violence, sexual assault and suicide and carries corresponding content warnings.
