1642. East Anglia is plagued by the ruthless clutches of Matthew Hopkins. The black souled witch-finder General. No woman is safe. An intelligent woman is less safe still. We follow Agnes, the sexton's daughter whose crimes of sharp wit land her in the fearful Scold's Bridle, a face-prison for unruly women who speak out against their husbands. But Agnes has been perfecting a particularly delicious recipe for witch-pricker stew.
