About the show
The Scold's Bridle is a new horror play by Belladonna Theatre set in 1642, when East Anglia is in the grip of the witch-finder Matthew Hopkins. We follow Agnes, the sexton's daughter, whose sharp wit lands her in the Scold's Bridle — a face-prison for women deemed unruly. But Agnes is far from defenceless. The show runs 35 minutes, is performed at Willow Studio, and is for audiences aged 18 and above. Content warnings include distressing themes, violence and strong language.
Why see this show?
A brisk, darkly comic piece of historical horror from Belladonna Theatre. Agnes is exactly the kind of seventeenth-century woman you want to spend 35 minutes with — and her particular recipe for revenge is well worth discovering.
