Book NowAbout the show
The Provocateurs is a spoken word double-bill hosted by comedian Jojo Sutherland at Stand 4. First, Dr Lucy Hall of Heriot-Watt University and the Open University examines ideas of monstrosity in World War II Britain and asks whether we are truly so different from the monsters we create. Then Dr Andrew Frayn of Edinburgh Napier University questions what makes literature 'classic' and what gets overlooked as a result. A stimulating evening that pairs rigorous academic thinking with accessible, engaging delivery. Running 60 minutes, suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
A rare chance to hear proper academic ideas delivered live and with conviction, framed by sharp comic hosting. Two distinct talks on war, monstrosity and the literary canon make for a thought-provoking hour that goes well beyond the usual festival fare.
