I’m a framer who has been trying to be a good person all my life, but as a result, my wife betrayed me, my son died, and I switched to the police force to survive… In a production that celebrates Bejing's cultural heritage, Lao She's 1950s novella is performed in traditional Bejing musical style by a Chinese troupe famous for interpreting his work. The story takes the perspective of a common man who, despite his personal struggles of loss and pain, continues to find love for the world. English surtitles.

The Life of Mine is performed by the Beijing Quju Opera Troupe in traditional Beijing musical style, based on a novella by Lao She written in the fifties. The story is told from the perspective of a common man — a framer who tries to be good, suffers the loss of his son and the betrayal of his wife, and ultimately joins the police force to survive.
