The Legend of Shanhai is a magical musical blending fantasy, adventure and the bittersweet journey of growing up, presented by Drama ENT (China) at the main house as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Set against a deep-sea dreamscape, the story follows young Beiming, who dreams of the skies beyond his island home in the North Sea. Swept into a mysterious undersea world, he meets Kun — a mighty fish longing to soar. As they brave whirlpools and sea beasts, Beiming learns that true freedom lies in embracing both roots and wings. Inspired by ancient Chinese mythology, this lyrical musical theatre and physical theatre production runs for 60 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 5 and over.
